This summer, a limited edition Red Bull x RBNY Supporters Can hit shelves across the New York Tri-State Area in celebration of the passionate Red Bulls fans who bring their energy to every match. The launch included a competition for supporters to design their own scarf. Hundreds designed and applied, and the club recently announced the winner: Raul Carvajal.
Carvajal, a native of Hamilton Heights in Manhattan, New York, has a long history following the club.
"When Red Bull Arena opened and the great Thierry Henry arrived, I decided to attend my first game," Carvajal said.
Carvajal, during his years supporting the club at Red Bull Arena, has seen the team make the playoffs every season, and earn the best record in the league two times.
“It’s a beautiful space and nothing like anywhere I’ve ever been to,” he said, “The crowd was electric and the atmosphere spectacular. I tried to make it to as many games as I could for the following seasons and started to follow the team more closely. I stuck with the club through it all, the ups and downs -- and the Supporters’ Shields!"
Carvajal's winning design features two of the club's mottos "NY is RED" and "Love, Fight, Passion, Glory" prominently and proudly displayed alongside the Red Bulls logo.
As a result of winning, Carvajal’s design will be created and distributed to the first 5,000 fans at Red Bull Arena at the team's annual Supporters' Day match this Sunday against Orlando City. He also will receive the ultimate soccer experience with three friends, which includes manager’s box seats, access to the player tunnel during warmups and Red Bulls gift bags.
Carvajal, the father of soon-to-be two, moved to New Rochelle, New York, a few years ago, but still tries to make it out to a few games each year. He hopes to bring his newest child, who is due in November, next season.
“To me, that’s what New York Red Bulls is: Family," he said. "Super proud of the club and all they have accomplished this season as a team and as individuals. Once again, thank you and the entire Red Bulls family for the opportunity to show my Love, Fight, Passion and Glory for the club with my scarf design.”
The Red Bulls will close out the regular season this Sunday, October 28 at Red Bull Arena versus Orlando City. First kick is slated for 4:30 p.m., with the game being broadcasted on MSG and New York Red Bulls Radio. Select tickets are still available.
