POST-GAME NOTES: New York Red Bulls 0, Sporting KC 2

The New York Red Bulls fell to Sporting Kansas City, 2-0, on Saturday night at Red Bull Arena. Sporting’s Benny Feilhaber scored in the 17th minute and Dom Dwyer doubled the lead in the 60th minute. New York is now 1-4-0 on the season, and 20-20-13 all-time in the regular season against Kansas City. The Red Bulls are 11-6-8 at home against SKC.


Notes: 

  • The New York Red Bulls fell to Sporting Kansas City 2-0 on Saturday night at Red Bull Arena. Benny Feilhaber got the game-winner in the 17th minute, while Dom Dwyer added another in the second half.
  • New York is now 20-20-13 all-time against Kansas City, including an 11-6-8 mark at home.
  • New York is 35-30-20 all-time in the month of April. The Red Bulls have scored 113 goals in April all-time and have conceded 100 goals during the month.
  • Feilhaber struck in the 17th minute, getting on the end of a low cross from Graham Zusi on a Kansas City counter attack.
  • Dwyer doubled the lead for the visitors in the 60th minute, getting on the end of a long throw from Saad Abdul-Salaam and putting a low shot inside the right post.
  • Red Bulls captain Dax McCarty made his 147th appearance for the club, passing Carlos Mendes on the all-time club appearances list. McCarty now sits alone in third place. It was McCarty's 142nd start in a Red Bulls kit, a category in which he is second only to Mike Petke's 158 career starts.
  • Red Bulls Homegrown signing Alex Muyl made his professional debut, replacing McCarty in the 85th minute. Muyl signed as a Homegrown Player in December of 2015.
  • New York goalkeeper Luis Robles started and played a full 90 minutes for the 111th consecutive MLS regular season match, pulling to within a game of Kevin Hartman's all-time MLS record. Robles has not missed a regular season minute since making his first start for New York in the tail end of the 2012 season.
  • Chris Duvall made his first start of the season, and first professional start at center back, in the match.  It was the first competitive start for Duvall since suffering a broken leg against the New York Cosmos in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on July 1, 2015. The third-year defender entered last week's match at New England as a substitute at center back.
  • The Red Bulls outshot Kansas City 22-7, including 6-3 in shots on target. New York took just under 65% of the possession for the match.
  • New York featured five Homegrown players in the 18 tonight vs. Sporting Kansas City (Connor Lade, Alex Muyl, Brandon Allen, Tyler Adams, Sean Davis). Lade and Davis started for New York.
  • New York now heads out for two on the road next week, with matches at San Jose on Wednesday (10:30 p.m. ET) and at Colorado on Saturday, April 16 (9 p.m. ET). The Red Bulls return home on Sunday, April 24, to face Orlando City SC at 7:30 p.m.
