HARRISON, N.J. (APRIL 26, 2017) – New York Red Bulls II have completed a loan of forward Douglas Martinez from CD Vida, the club announced today. Martinez is now fully registered with the league and federation, and will be available for selection for NYRB II’s next match on May 6, when the Harrisburg City Islanders visit Montclair State University.
“Douglas is a young international player that has many of the tools we look for in an attacking player,” Head Coach John Wolyniec said. “We feel that his pace and energy, aggressive mentality and determination fit in well with our style of play."
Martinez joins NYRB II for the remainder of the season from Honduran first-division side CD Vida. He made his professional debut for the club at the age of 16 in 2013.
A native of Olanchito, Honduras, Martinez featured 13 times in 2017 for CD Vida, starting nine games and scoring one goal.
Martinez has featured regularly for his country’s U-20 team, most recently at the U-20 CONCACAF Championship, starting five of the teams six matches notching one goal as Honduras qualified for this summer’s U-20 World Cup in South Korea with their second place finish.
