CHICAGO (Sept. 1, 2017) - Tickets for tonight's U.S. Men's National Team's World Cup Qualifier against Costa Rica, presented by Volpi Foods, are now sold out. The match, hosted at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J., is scheduled to kick-off at 6:55 p.m. ET with TV coverage beginning at 6:30 on ESPN, Univision and UDN. Fans can also follow the game on Twitter (@ussoccer and @ussoccer_esp), Instagram and Facebook.
The sell-out is the third and largest for the U.S. MNT so far during the Final Round of 2018 World Cup Qualifying, reaching Red Bull Arena capacity of 26,500. The U.S. began the Hex by selling out MAPFRE Stadium with an attendance of 24,650 for its match against Mexico in Columbus, Ohio last November. More recently, the USA sold out Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo., as 19,188 turned out to see the team defeat Trinidad and Tobago on June 8.
The U.S. enters the match with an impressive recent history against Costa Rica when playing on home soil, most recently dispatching Los Ticos 2-0 in the semifinals of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Last summer, the U.S. MNT dominated Costa Rica to the tune of 4-0 in group play of the Copa America Centenario; however, Los Ticos flipped that scoreline last November when the teams met in San Jose, Costa Rica on Matchday 2 of the Final Round of World Cup Qualifying with a 4-0 win of their own that left the USA in a rough spot to being the Hex.
