Allen Yanes started for the Guatemalan National Team on Friday night, helping them secure a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory over Costa Rica in an international friendly.
Yanes played the full 90 at right back in the victory. He was consistently up against former Arsenal F.C. forward Joel Campbell.
Stefano Cincotta broke the deadlock in the 31st minute to give Guatemala the lead against Costa Rica, who is ranked No. 37 in the FIFA rankings. FC Cincinnati’s Kendall Watson and Allan Cruz featured for Costa Rica, as well as Columbus Crew defender Waylon Francis.
Yanes will continue in the Guatemalan National Team camp, and then return ahead of NYRB II’s match against Memphis 901 FC next Friday, March 29.
