New York Red Bulls II defender Joe Fala signed his first professional contract on March 5, 2020. Fala was a four-year letterman at Ramapo College, where he holds the record for most game-winning goals in a single career.

Q. What has been the best moment of your soccer career so far?
Fala: My best moment of my soccer career would be my entire junior year of college with our team breaking records and recording the best year in school history. These are just a couple moments that I will never forget.
Q. What has been the toughest challenge on transitioning from forward to defender?
Fala: I think the toughest thing has been learning the Red Bulls system and what they want from a defender in different scenarios.
Q. What was the biggest change you had to make from college to the professional level?
Fala: The IQ is a huge difference maker also the speed of play and focus you need every day for practice and games.
Q. You have had your first preseason, what is some advice the older guys have given you?
Fala: The best advice has been to outwork everyone and stay positive. They also say keep working and showing out and you’ll get your opportunity to go to the next level.
Q. What do you like to do when you’re not training or playing soccer?
Fala: I love going to the beach and just relaxing during the down time.
Q. Was there a player that you grew up admiring when you were younger?
Fala: Zlatan [Ibrahomvic] is the player that I mirrored and felt most like myself. He is a big guy who scores a lot of goals like I used to.
Q. What is your favorite movie of all time?
Fala: I love the Fast and Furious series and cannot wait for the new one coming out in the next couple years.
Q. Who is your favorite club to support?
Fala: My club to support is Manchester City.
Q. With the suspension of play, what have you been doing to keep busy?
Fala: I have actually been working at a local liquor store, making some extra money. Other than that, I’ve been working out every day and staying healthy.
Q: If there was a 3v3 tournament, who would be your two picks for your team from the club?
Fala: If I had to choose two players to play with, I would pick Kyle [Duncan] and Deri [Corfe].
