INSIDE THE 18: New York Red Bulls Ready for Atlantic Cup Matchup vs. D.C.

The New York Red Bulls are facing D.C. United for the first time in the 2025 MLS season, the first meeting of the Atlantic Cup rivalry, at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

Dennis Gjengaar returns to the Starting XI for New York, his second start of the season. Gjengaar scored in his first start on March 15 vs. Orlando City SC.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Emil Forsberg will push the attack. Choupo-Moting has recorded a goal contribution in three-straight matches at Sports Illustrated Stadium, while Forsberg has three goal contributions in his last four matches at home.

Felipe Carballo and Peter Stroud look to lock down the central midfield.

The Red Bulls are unbeaten in their last eight matches against D.C. United across all competitions. New York have posted a 3-0-2 mark in their last five MLS matches against D.C. United.

Carlos Coronel starts in goal for New York.

Alexander Hack, Dylan Nealis, Tim Parker take the pitch for the opening whistle. Omar Valencia and Cameron Harper also get the nod to start. Valencia has recorded an assist in back-to-back appearances at Sports Illustrated Stadium. Harper has recorded three goals and two assists in his career against D.C. United. He has scored a goal in three-straight MLS matches against D.C. United.

Head Coach Sandro Schwarz will have Wiktor Bogacz, Wiki Carmona, Ronald Donkor, Raheem Edwards, Noah Eile, Julian Hall, Sean Nealis and Serge Ngoma available off the bench. A.J. Marcucci will serve as backup goalkeeper.
