New York Red Bulls II will travel to face the Charleston Battery on Saturday, September 3, at Patriots Point.
New York and Charleston will meet for the 18th time in their history, with Red Bulls II holding a 6-3-8 in the all-time series.
AJ Marcucci will start in net for the first time since July 1, making his return from a shoulder injury. He has started 12 matches this season, tallied 34 saves, and recorded two clean sheets.
The backline in front of Marcucci will consist of Arian Recinos, Matt Nocita, Daniel De Leon, and O’Vonte Mullings, who will wear the captain’s armband.
Michael Knapp and Bento Estrela make up the defensive midfield. After making his professional debut on August 28, Estrela will make his first professional start against Charleston.
The attacking options for New York will be Jordan Adebayo-Smith, John Murphy, Jesús Castellano, and Jordan Adebayo-Smith.
New York’s bench will consist of Lamine Conte, Davi Alexandre, Erick Ruiz, and Stiven Plaza. Derrek Chan will serve as the backup goalkeeper.
