New York Red Bulls II will travel to face Oakland Roots SC on Saturday, September 17, at Laney College Football Stadium.
The two sides will meet for the first time in their history, with New York. Facing a first-time opponent for the eighth time this season. Red Bulls II will look for its first win on the West Coast in its history, marking its third visit since July of 2021.
Stiven Plaza will make his second-straight start up top for New York in his fourth overall appearance with the club since joining last month. Erick Ruiz, Jonathan Filipe, and Jordan Adebayo-Smith will round out the rest of the attacking options.
The defensive midfield will be comprised of Jesús Castellano and Nate Worth, who will be making his second career professional start at 15 years old.
Arian Recinos, Matthew Nocita, Yostin Salinas, and O’Vonte Mullings make up the backline for Red Bulls II. Mullings will wear the captain’s armband.
Giannis Nikopolidis will make his first start in net since August 28. The goalkeeper has made 13 starts this season and logged over 1,000 minutes.
The bench for New York will have Lamine Conte, Daniel De Leon, Davi Alexandre, Curtis Ofori, Bento Estrela, and John Murphy. Red Bulls Academy goalkeeper Alan Rutkowski will serve as the backup goalkeeper.
