New York Red Bulls II Look to Bounce Back Against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC
Here are the Three Keys to the Game:
Forget the Past
New York Red Bulls II most recently suffered a road defeat to Philadelphia Union II on August 5. Despite winning their two previous matches, NYRB II will look to put this past loss in the rear-view mirror. They will need to when they go up against a very-experienced team in Pittsburgh.
The Youth Stepping Up
With the debuts of midfielders Kenny Hot and Tapiwa Shumba on Wednesday night, they became the fourth and fifth academy players to make their professional debuts since the return to play. The list includes Daniel Edelman, Dantouma Toure, and Bo Cummins, who all have done well in their first professional minutes. Expect to see more of these players come Saturday night.
Just Like the First Time
On July 26, NYRB II defeated Pittsburgh Riverhounds, 2-1, at Red Bull Arena. Despite going down early, NYRB II leveled the match right before half thanks to a left-footed volley from Omar Sowe. With a well-fought second half and time winding down, Caden Clark played a through ball to Jake Lacava, who was taken down in the box and awarded a penalty. Midfielder Deri Corfe stepped up to the penalty spot and calmly slotted in the game-winning goal. After the loss to Union II, NYRB II will be hungry to get a result against Pittsburgh.
