HARRISON, N.J. (March 29, 2025) - New York Red Bulls II (1-0-1, 4 pts) will host NYCFC II (2-0-1, 7 pts) for 2025 home opener and first edition of the Hudson River Derby this season on Sunday, March 30 at Sports Illustrated Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. ET with coverage available on Apple TV – MLS Season Pass.

New York is coming off a 1-1 road draw at Subaru Park against Philadelphia Union II. Red Bulls II gave up an early 20th minute free kick goal but answered back in the 91st minute when midfielder Aiden Jarvis slipped a ball through to forward Tanner Rosborough who tucked a shot into the bottom right corner. The match would go to a penalty kick shootout that was won 3-1 by the Union.

New York City lasted played on March 24 and earned a 2-1 home win against Carolina Core FC at Belson Stadium. NYCFC II opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Camilo Ponce placed a shot from the box into the bottom right corner. In the 71st minute NYCFC II found the net again after whipping in a cross into the box that was deflected by a Carolina defender into the back of the net. Carolina got a goal back in the 80th minute when Jacob Evans received the ball at the penalty spot, took a touch to his right and hammer a shot into the bottom left corner. New York City held on in the last 10 minutes to earn three points.

Through six all-time MLS NEXT Pro meetings, NYCFC II hold the series advantage with a record of 3-2-1. The two sides last met on August 11, 2024, at MSU Soccer Park. New York City scored early in the 20th minute courtesy of a Piero Elias penalty kick. Red Bulls II showed resilience and found an equalizer in the 92nd minute, when defender Copeland Berkley whipped in a cross into the box that was volleyed into the bottom right corner by midfielder Steven Sserwadda. The match went into penalty kicks where New York would win 5-4 thanks to penalty kick goals from Ibrahim Kasule, Julian Hall, Jarvis, Rafael Mosquera, and Aidan O’Connor.

Midfielder Kasule leads the charge with three goal contributions in five appearances against the Hudson River rivals. His most notable match was on July 9, 2023, when the Uganda native dished an assist to Ricardo Gorday in the 79th minute and then a minute later smashed a shot into the bottom left corner despite being a man down.

In all six MLS NEXT Pro matchups, Red Bulls II has never been held scoreless. The group also has been clutch, scoring four goals in the 75th minute or later.
