New York currently sits in 12th place in the Eastern Conference and is coming off a 1-2 loss against Chicago Fire FC II on Friday, September 13 at SeatGeek Stadium. Midfielder Rafael Mosquera scored his fourth goal and recorded fifth goal contribution of the season. The Panama native has caught fire as of late, scoring two goals in his last three appearances. Fellow midfielder Aidan Jarvis tallied his first career MLS NEXT Pro assist.

Toronto sits in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings with 34 points. They are unbeaten in their last three matches, earning draws against New England Revolution II and NYCFC II, and a decisive 3-0 home win against NYCFC II on September 15.

The all-time MLS NEXT Pro series between the two clubs is tied with both teams winning two matches. The two sides last met on July 28 at York Lions Stadium where Toronto won the high scoring thriller 4-3. Toronto took a 3-0 lead through the 57th minute and were able to hold off a three-goal second half serge from New York that saw goals scored by defender Juan Gutierrez, midfielder Dylan Sullivan and forward Tanner Rosborough, including two goals between the 87th and 88th minute. Goalkeeper Aidan Stokes also made a penalty kick save.
