HARRISON, N.J. (June 27, 2019) – New York Red Bulls II will face Charleston Battery in the final match of their road trip on Saturday, with kick-off set for 7:30 p.m. ET. The match can be seen live on ESPN+.
NYRB II’s match against Nashville SC was abandoned in the 45th minute of play due to severe weather and will be replayed at a later date. NYRB II last played against Pittsburgh Riverhounds on June 22, where they lost 3-0 at Highmark Stadium. This was only the second time this season that NYRB II has been shutout.
NYRB II last saw Charleston Battery on October 20, 2018 at MUSC Health Stadium. NYRB II got the better of the hosts, when Tom Barlow scored an early goal to give NYRB II the lead and eventually the 1-0 victory to help the club move on to the 2018 Eastern Conference semifinals. NYRB II are unbeaten at MUSC Health Stadium holding a 3-0-2 record.
Charleston Battery are coming off a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Ottawa Fury SC. Charleston has not won a match since June 8 and are currently eighth in the Eastern Conference with a total of 22 points. Former NYRB II player Zeiko Lewis is their leading goal scorer with five for the season.
Following Saturday’s match, NYRBII will return home to host Ottawa Fury SC on July 5, with kick-off set for 7 p.m. ET.
