HARRISON, N.J. (March 27, 2019) – New York Red Bulls II and Memphis 901 FC will compete against each other for the first time in history on Friday night at MSU Soccer Park on the campus of Montclair State University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted live on ESPN +.
NYRB II are coming off a tough battle against Nashville SC, which ended in a draw. Brian White leveled the score in the 55th minute off a cross from midfielder Marcus Epps, which was his second assist of the season.
Memphis 901 FC was founded on January 8, 2018 by Peter Freund, Craig Unger, and Tim Howard. This is their first season in the USL Championship. They most recently got their first win in franchise history over Bethlehem Steel FC at Talen Energy Stadium. They currently sit in tenth place with a total of four points.
NYRB II faced three new clubs in the USL Championship last season and posted a 3-1-4 record against them. They were also unbeaten against new clubs at home in 2018 (2-0-2). The three new clubs in the USL Championship last season that they faced were North Carolina FC, Indy Eleven, and Nashville SC.
