HARRISON, N.J. (October 17, 2019) - New York Red Bulls II travel to Virginia to take on Loudoun United FC in their final game of the 2019 USL Championship regular season. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at Segra Field with coverage available on ESPN+.
NYRB II suffered a 2-1 loss to Birmingham Legion FC in their last outing. They are currently winless in their last five games.
These two sides met in late April at MSU Soccer Park where the visiting Loudoun United FC picked up all three points. NYRB II picked up an early lead courtesy of Mathias Jørgensen, but Loudoun responded with three of their own before the final whistle. The team’s leading goalscorer, Kyle Murphy, was amongst the goalscorers in the 3-1 result.
NYRB II currently sit fifth in the Eastern Conference and are in of need points to jump up a position and earn a home playoff game. A win and a Tampa Bay Rowdies loss would see NYRB II finish fourth. NYRB II could also earn a playoff game at MSU Soccer Park with a draw, contingent on a Tampa Bay Rowdies loss and a Louisville City FC draw or loss.
Despite being eliminated from playoff contention, Loudoun United FC have picked up form as the season concludes. The team has won their last three matches, most recently topping Charleston Battery 2-1.
Following Saturday’s match, NYRB II will begin their quest to the 2019 USL Championship Final, but their opponent is yet to be determined for the quarterfinals.
