HARRISON, N.J. (April 11, 2019) – New York Red Bulls II will travel to face Charlotte Independence on April 13 at the Sportsplex at Matthews Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET and can be seen live on ESPN+.
NYRB II look to continue their winning ways after defeating Memphis 901 FC on March 29. Their most recent match against Birmingham Legion FC was postponed due to weather during the 17th minute of action. The rescheduled date for that match has yet to be determined.
The last time these two clubs met was on September 22, 2018. The clubs battled to a 1-1 draw in Charlotte. The Independence struck first with Gregory Jordan scoring in the fifteenth minute. NYRB II would level the match with a goal from former striker Anatole Abang in the 70th minute.
Charlotte Independence have not started their season on the best note by only gaining one point through four matches. Their only result came from a 3-3 draw against Atlanta United 2. They have been defeated by Indy Eleven, Saint Louis FC, and most recently Charleston Battery. Dominic Oduro leads the team with two goals scored in four appearances.
The Independence holds the lead in the series history with a record of 3-2-2. NYRB II has had some success against them on the road, where they have been able to gain results in three out of four matches.
NYRB II will be back home when they face Hartford Athletic on Wednesday, April 17, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. ET. For tickets, visit www.newyorkredbulls.com/2/tickets or call 1.877.727.7585
