HARRISON, N.J. (October 8, 2022) – New York Red Bulls II (3-23-6, 15 points) will travel to face Memphis 901 FC (19-8-5, 62 points) on Sunday, October 9. Kickoff at AutoZone Park is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN+.
The match will mark the second of the season between the clubs and fifth overall in their history. Memphis defeated New York, 2-1, on August 3 at MSU Soccer Park and hold a slight 2-1-1 edge in the all-time series. Three of the four meetings between New York and Memphis have been decided by one goal or less.
New York will look to bounce back after falling to Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday, October 1, at Wild Horse Pass. Jordan Adebayo-Smith scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season in the match. The striker has three goals over New York’s last seven matches and scored New York’s goal against Memphis on August 3.
Memphis played to a 2-2 draw with Rio Grande Valley FC on Wednesday, October 5, at AutoZone Park. Jeremy Kelly and Laurent Kissiedou found the back of the net in the match. As a club, Memphis ranks third in USL Championship with 62 goals on the campaign. Phillip Goodrum sits second among USL Championship players with 19 goals.
Red Bulls Academy goalkeeper Alan Rutkowski made his professional debut in New York’s last match, becoming the youngest goalkeeper in club history to start a match. At 15 years and 341 days old, he is also the fifth-youngest player in club history to appear in a match. Red Bulls II has seen three 15-year-old players appear in matches this season, with all three earning at least one start.
New York sits 14th in the Eastern Conference, while Memphis ranks 2nd.
Following the match, New York will travel to face the Tampa Bay Rowdies for its 2022 USL Championship season finale on Saturday, October 15. Kickoff at Al Lang Stadium is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage available on ESPN+.
