HARRISON, N.J. (September 21, 2021) – New York Red Bulls II (4-16-4, 16 points) will travel to face the Charleston Battery (8-8-6, 30 points) on Wednesday, September 22. Kickoff from Patriots Point is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET, with coverage available on ESPN+.
The match, which was postponed due to weather on June 12, will mark the final meeting of the season between the two clubs. After the first two meetings ended in draws, Charleston defeated New York 3-2 on Friday, August 20 at MSU Soccer Park in a match that featured three goals in the opening 10 minutes.
New York will look to bounce back after it fell 3-0 to Memphis 901 FC on Sunday, September 19. Forward Luther Archimede made his first career start and goalkeeper AJ Marcucci recorded six saves, his second highest total on the season.
Charleston is led by forward Claudio Repetto, who leads the team in scoring with six goals. Goalkeeper Joe Kuzminsky has appeared in all but three matches for the Battery, recording 52 saves and four clean sheets.
New York currently sits in seventh place of the Atlantic Division, while Charleston ranks fifth. They are coming off a 1-1 draw against The Miami FC on Saturday, September 18.
Following Wednesday’s match, New York will travel to face Real Monarchs SLC on Sunday, September 26. Kickoff is set for 9:00 p.m. ET, with coverage available on ESPN+.
