HARRISON, N.J. (July 22, 2022) – New York Red Bulls II (2-14-3, 9 points) will travel to face Monterey Bay F.C. (5-11-2, 17 points) on Saturday, July 23. Kickoff at Cardinale Stadium is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN+.

The match will mark the first-ever meeting between the two sides, and the third time in New York history in which it will play a match on the West Coast. Overall, it will be the sixth match for Red Bulls II against a West Coast opponent, and the first since June 2, when it drew 2-2 with San Diego Loyal SC.

New York will look to build off its 1-0 victory over Indy Eleven on Friday, July 15, in which it held Indy to just one shot on target. Jeremy Rafanello became the 15th different player to record double-digit goals with New York in the match, scoring the game-winner in the 53rd minute against his former club.

Monterey Bay, one of two USL Championship newcomers this season, enters the match with five victories on the season, including a 2-0 win over Louisville City FC at Lynn Family Stadium. Four of its five victories have come against 2021 postseason clubs. They are coming off a scoreless draw against Detroit City FC on Saturday, July 16. Monterey Bay is led by Chase Boone, who has six goals on the season.

Saturday’s match will feature a meeting of brothers, as New York midfielder John Murphy will face Monterey Bay midfielder James Murphy for the first time in their professional careers. It marks the first match featuring brothers for Red Bulls II since July 9, 2017, when it took on Bethlehem Steel FC in a clash between David and Adam Najem.

New York sits 14th in the Eastern Conference, while Monterey Bay ranks 13th in the Western Conference.

Following the match, New York will return home to kick off a four-match homestand on Sunday, July 31, against New Mexico United. Kickoff at MSU Soccer Park is set for 6:00 p.m. ET with coverage available on ESPN+.
