Behind two second half goals, NYRB II defeated Charlotte Independence, 3-2, on Wednesday, July 7. Midfielder Austin Brummett scored his first professional goal in the 79th minute to complete the comeback for New York. Midfielder Nico Nee, who entered the game shortly after Brummett, recorded his first professional assist on the goal. Goalkeeper Luca Lewis tallied a season-high four saves.
This will be the third meeting of the season between the two clubs. Hartford Athletic defeated NYRB II, 3-2, on Friday, April 30 in the 2021 season opener and won the second match, 7-0, on Saturday, June 5.
New York currently sits in seventh place of the Atlantic Division, while Hartford Athletic ranks fourth. They are coming off a 2-0 victory against Loudoun United FC on Sunday, July 4.
Following Saturday’s match, New York will conclude their three-match road trip where it started on Saturday, July 17 against Charlotte Independence, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. ET.
