MATCH RECAP: New York Red Bulls II Fall to Carolina Core FC

New York Red Bulls II fell to the Carolina Core FC 4-2 in MLS NEXT Pro action at Truist Point Stadium, in High Point, NC on Sunday night.

Red Bulls II opened the scoring in the 9th minute. Forward Tanner Rosborough sent the ball through to midfielder Rafael Mosquera who hammered a shot that took a deflection off of Carolina Core FC goalkeeper. Forward Julian Hall followed the rebound for a tap in to give Red Bulls II the early lead.

Red Bulls II struck again in the 28th minute, when defender Curtis Ofori received a pass from Steven Sserwadda, took a couple dribbles and laced a shot from the top of the box into the bottom left corner to give the side a 2-0 lead.

Carolina Core FC started the second half strong, scoring two goals in 13 minutes to tie the match at two. Then in the 82nd minute Carolina was awarded a penalty kick and Facundo Canete slotted it into the bottom right corner. Canete sealed the deal with a goal in the 10th minute of stoppage time.

Hall netted his sixth goal of the season, giving the forward three goals in his last five matches.

Ofori earned his second goal of the season, while midfielder Sserwadda tallied his first career MLS NEXT Pro assist.

New York will be back in action on Friday, September 13, as they travel to SeatGeek Stadium to face off against Chicago Fire FC II. Kickoff is set for 7:00 P.M. (EST) with coverage available on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
