HARRISON, N.J. (March 8, 2024) – New York Red Bulls II have added Malian midfielder Malick Dembele on loan from Yeelen Olimpique, the club announced today. The loan will run through the 2024 season with a club option for 2025.
Dembele is joining from Yeelen Olympique in the Malian Premiere Division, where he has played the last three seasons. The midfielder made 32 appearances in that span, having logged nine goals and nine assists since making his debut in 2021 at 17 years old.
“Malick is a talented young player that we see a lot of potential in,” Head of Sport Jochen Schneider said. “His technical ability on the ball stands out and we are excited to see him grow within our system.”
The 19-year-old has been with Yeelen Olimpique since 2015 when he entered their academy system at age 11. After being introduced into the first team squad in 2021, he immediately became a key player for the club in the attacking midfield role.
"We are thrilled to have a player like Malick join the squad,” said Head Coach Ibrahim Sekagya "His vision as a playmaker in addition to his ability as a goal scorer will allow him to fit right into the group that we have.”
