HARRISON, N.J. (March 14, 2023)- New York Red Bulls II and MLS NEXT Pro have revealed the upcoming schedule for the club’s inaugural 2023 season.
In the introductory season of MLS NEXT Pro for New York Red Bulls II, the schedule is solely focused on conference play (See Conference Table Below). All 28 of the scheduled matches will be against Eastern Conference opponents, with there being a home and away match against each of the twelve other teams and a third match against Philadelphia Union II, NYCFC II, New England Revolution II, and Crown Legacy FC.
For the seventh time in club history, New York Red Bulls II will start off their season with a home match, as the club will take on Columbus Crew 2 at MSU Soccer Park on March 26th, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
The New York Derby will make its way into MLS NEXT Pro for the first year, with Red Bulls II hosting NYCFC II in two of the three matchups the clubs will have this season.
The longest homestand for New York will be three matches, spanning from May 7th to the 21st, where they will host Philadelphia, NYCFC, and Miami. Red Bulls II will not be away from home for long periods of time, with two matches being their longest road swing.
New York will close out the regular season at home on September 24th as they take on Philadelphia at 2PM, lined up with all other matches in the league for MLS NEXT Pro Decision Day.

NEW PLAYOFF FORMAT
The 2023 season will feature an expanded playoffs format that includes a pick-your-opponent element in the first two rounds.
Within each conference, the two division champions and the five clubs with the next highest points (seven clubs total) will advance to the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs. The Playoffs will consist of three rounds followed by MLS NEXT Pro Cup, taking place over four consecutive weeks beginning the weekend of September 29.
The club with the most regular season points in each conference (#1 seed) will earn a first round bye, automatically advancing to the Conference Semifinals.
Conference Quarterfinals:
- The next two teams with the most points in each conference (#2 and #3 seeds) will choose their opponent and host their match (one of two teams must be the other division champion)
- The two remaining teams that are not selected will play each other, with the higher seeded team hosting
Conference Semifinals:
- The team with the most overall points in the conference (#1 seed) will choose its opponent from the remaining two lowest seeded teams and host the match
- The second highest seed will host the remaining team
Conference Finals:
- The team with the most regular season points (higher seed) will host the team with the lowest points (lower seed)
