HARRISON, N.J. (July 6, 2023) – New York Red Bulls II defender Omar Valencia has been called up to the Panama National Team ahead of their quarterfinal match against Qatar in the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Valencia, 19, has been with New York Red Bulls II for the last two seasons on loan from C.D. Plaza Amador. The defender has made 11 career appearances for NYRB II, while making nine starts and recording one assist. Valencia made his debut for the Panama National Team on June 11, 2022, in a friendly against Uruguay.
Valencia and Panama will take on Qatar on Saturday, July 8 at 7 p.m. ET. If they advance, they will play in the Gold Cup semifinals on Wednesday, July 12.
