HARRISON, N.J. (March 30, 2023) – New York Red Bulls II have signed Ugandan midfielder Ibrahim Kasule to an MLS NEXT Pro contract, the club announced today.
“We are looking forward to adding a player like Ibrahim to the group,” Sporting Director Denis Hamlett said. “He has the qualities that we look for when deciding how to improve the current squad.”
Kasule, 18, joins Red Bulls II after being with Wakiso Giants FC in the Ugandan Premier League. He was part of the club since September of 2020 and consistently appeared in their starting lineup during the 2022-23 season. He won the “Player of the Month” award for his former club this past October after scoring a goal and tallying two assists in three matches.
“Ibrahim and the skills that he can provide are going to fit right in with the squad this season,” Head Coach Ibrahim Sekagya said. “His success in Uganda at such a young age was a main factor as to why we decided to bring him in for this season.”
The midfielder will join New York Red Bulls II and former Wakiso Giants FC teammate Frank Ssebuufu for the current MLS NEXT Pro season.
