HARRISON, N.J. (May 6, 2019) - New York Red Bulls II have signed goalkeepers Rashid Nuhu and Miguel Silva to USL Championship contracts, the club announced today.
Nuhu, 23, was named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team during his junior and senior seasons. The Accra, Ghana native holds the record for most minutes played (6,942 minutes) in Fordham University Men’s Soccer program history. The goalkeeper is second, behind current New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Ryan Meara, in shutouts with 30 to his name. Nuhu was selected No. 70 overall in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft by the Red Bulls. He participated in three scrimmages against the Portland Timbers, Phoenix Rising SC, and FC Dallas. Nuhu played for the Red Bulls U23 during the 2018 USL League Two season.
Silva, 18, signed his first professional contract with Deportivo La Guaira when he was 16 years old. He made 14 appearances with Metropolitanos in Venezuela. He was teammates with NYRB II defender Edgardo Rito, when he played there in 2018.
New York Red Bulls II return home to face North Carolina FC on Military Appreciation Night at MSU Soccer Park on the campus of Montclair State University. The match is on May 24, with kick-off set for 7 p.m. ET.
