New York Red Bulls manager John Wolyniec believes his team’s away form is better than their record suggests as they head into their third away game on the road in Los Angeles on Saturday.
“I definitely feel good about the team and where we are going.” Wolyniec said. “We’ve been good lately and I think we’ve been getting better and it’s just another way to present a challenge to try and mock being in an MLS season”.
Red Bulls have taken all nine points from their first three games at Red Bull Arena, yet only one point on the road in the USL this season.
Wolyniec’s side recovered from a poor first away game against Atlanta United 2, to show a lot more quality in the second away game against Richmond Kickers, which ended 1-1.
Coming off a strong 5-0 win over Tampa Bay Rowdies, New York are taking the journey out West to face fellow USL II side, LA Galaxy II in their next USL bout. The five goals scored at Red Bull Arena raised NYRB II’s goal differential to +7, the highest in the Eastern conference standings.
“It’s an important game for us. We haven’t got a win on the road so that’s a big deal for us. It’s going to be a challenge.” Wolyniec continued, “The MLS teams are always good, and it’s hard to determine what players they’re going to have and these type of things.”
Home or away, John Wolyniec tries to stay true to their attacking style of play. NYRB II currently leads the USL in both goals (14) scored and shots taken (95).
LA Galaxy II enter the game with no wins so far in their USL campaign, after only scoring a single goal and holding a record of 0-4-2.
