New York Red Bulls II opened the month of September with a match against the Charleston Battery on Saturday, September 3. The remainder of the month’s schedule features a West Coast trip to a first-time opponent plus the final two home matches for the club in its USL Championship history.
Friday, September 9 – Miami FC (MSU Soccer Park, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
A rematch of the 2022 season opener, Miami FC will make the return trip to face Red Bulls II at MSU Soccer Park. Miami has won 12 matches this season and currently sits sixth in the Eastern Conference and will look to add to its four-match unbeaten streak. The club features multiple players that have seen time with Red Bulls II, including Florian Valot, Bolu Akinyode, and Devon Williams. Miami leads USL Championship in clean sheets with 14 on the season.
Saturday, September 17 – Oakland Roots SC (Laney College Football Stadium, 10:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
For the first time, New York will face Oakland Roots SC, marking the club’s second trip to the West Coast this season. Red Bulls II will look for its first-ever victory against a West Coast club. Oakland currently ranks ninth in the Western Conference and has earned a result in three of its last five matches. The club is led by Óttar Magnús Karlsson, who is tied for third in USL Championship with 15 goals.
Wednesday, September 21 – Detroit City FC (MSU Soccer Park, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
New York will host league newcomers Detroit City FC in what will be the final USL Championship home match in club history. The two sides met earlier this season, with Detroit coming out victorious, 2-0, in late April. In its first season in the league, Detroit has put itself in a position to qualify for the postseason. The club currently sits seventh in the Eastern Conference and has a nine point lead on the first club below the playoff line (FC Tulsa).
