Midfielder Steven Sserwadda and Uganda participated in the 2022 Navruz Cup, a four-nation competition in Uzbekistan. The Kampala, Uganda, native played in both matches, marking his first appearances with the Ugandan National Team.
Uganda defeated Tajikistan on penalty kicks on Friday, March 25, with Sserwadda coming on as a second half substitute to play 20 minutes.
They fell in the final on Tuesday, March 29, to Uzbekistan. Sserwadda made his first start for the senior team, logging 65 minutes.
He previously featured for the U-20’s and the U-23’s and helped lead Uganda to a second-place finish at the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
