Midfielder Jared Stroud recorded his first professional assist on March 24, 2018 against Atlanta United FC 2, with a cross to current New York Red Bulls forward Brian White.
On Friday night, Stroud recorded his fourth assist of the season and his 15th of his career. This assist moved him in front of current New York Red Bulls midfielder Vincent Bezecourt, who previously had the record with 14 assists, for the all-time record in assists for the club.
“I knew [Vincent] Bezecourt was up there. I knew he was in first, but hopefully I was creeping in on him,” Stroud said.
“Yeah, it's good to be up there with him. He's a great player and a good mentor for me.”
Stroud has been on a tear this season recording five goals to go alongside his four assists. He is ranked fourth in the USL Championship with 34 chances created and is in a tie for sixth in the league lead for assists.
The accomplishment is a big one, but Stroud was the first one to point out the biggest accomplishment of the night.
“It feels good [to be the all-time assist leader], but the most important thing is that we got the win,” Stroud said.
