New York Red Bulls II had to abandon their match last weekend against Birmingham due to weather in the 17th minute of action. This was disappointing for the reason that they were leading by a goal very early on.
Midfielder Jared Stroud believes that the despite the postponement, that they played really well. “I think it was a positive sixteen minutes for us and it is unfortunate for Tom [Barlow] that the goal does not stand,” Stroud said.
“It gives us a lot of confidence, especially because last year we struggled on the road, but I think this year we look a little bit more of a mature team,” Stroud said.
NYRB II will need that confidence going back on the road to face Charlotte Independence (0-3-1). Stroud expects Charlotte to be on top of their game in the upcoming contest.
“They are a well-respected team. I think their results have not been showing of how good a team they can be,” Stroud said.
Despite the slow start, Charlotte has many experienced attackers that have proven themselves in Major League Soccer and other professional leagues.
“They are experienced, but we will have to just go after the game and treat it as any other game. It is going to be a good matchup,” Stroud said.
