(July 20, 2018) - New York Red Bulls II (8-5-7, 31 points) hit the road for two consecutive matches, beginning with the 2019 MLS expansion team FC Cincinnati (12-3-5, 41 points) on Saturday at Nippert Stadium. The matchup consists of the top-two scoring teams in the USL with New York at 43 goals and Cincinnati at 39. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. and can be seen live on ESPN+.
NYRB II enter Nippert Stadium carrying a three-game winning streak after closing out a three-game home stand at MSU Soccer Park with a 2-1 win over Bethlehem Steel FC on Wednesday. The victory propelled New York to fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Amando Moreno scored the game-winning goal of the match, bringing him to nine goals on the season. Moreno is tops on the squad and tied for third in the league. When on the road in 2018, NYRB II are 0-3-6.
FC Cincinnati head into Saturday’s game carrying a nine-game undefeated streak that includes six victories. Similar to NYRB II, FC Cincinnati is coming off a midweek home victory after defeating Charlotte Independence, 2-0. The Eastern Conference leaders are led by Danni Konig and Emmanuel Ledesma, who each have nine goals to their name.
NYRB II will be looking to obtain their first road victory of the season, as well as payback for their first encounter of the season, which ended in a 2-1 victory for FC Cincinnati at Red Bull Arena.
