What to Watch For: NYRB II @ Birmingham Legion FC

Rito 3_29_19

New York Red Bulls II will travel to take on Birmingham Legion FC, this will be the first-match ever between the two clubs. Kick-off is set for 8 p.m. ET. Here are three things to watch for:

FIRST ROAD TRIP OF THE YEAR

New York Red Bulls II started the year off with a three-match homestand, which saw the team earn seven out of a possible nine points. This will be the first away trip for squad against a Birmingham team that is coming off their first win in franchise history and it was against the defending champions, Louisville City FC. This will be a good early test on the road for NYRB II.

CHANCES, CHANCES, AND MORE CHANCES

Chances have definitely not been hard to come by for NYRB II. Last season, they led the Eastern Conference with 81 big chances created. They currently lead the league with 14 in only three matches. Midfielder Chris Lema leads the team with eight chances created. Even though they are going to be on the road, there should be a lot of chances in this one.

THE RETURN

Allen Yanes has been away on international duty for the last two weeks with the Guatemalan National Team. He was a member of a backline that did not allow a goal in 180 minutes of action. Guatemala pulled out an upset win over Costa Rica and got a decisive victory over Nicaragua. This will be Yanes first game back with NYRB II.

New York Red Bulls II will stay on the road when they face Charlotte Independence on April 13, then they will return home on April 17 to host Hartford Athletic.  For tickets, visit www.newyorkredbulls.com/2/tickets or call 1.877.727.7585.
