New York Red Bulls II will be finishing their three-match road trip, when they face Charleston Battery on Saturday, with kick-off set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Here are three things to watch for:
THE GOALS ARE COMING
Despite the Nashville SC match being postponed, forward Mathias Jørgensen has scored three goals in his last three appearances. The young Danish forward has made an impact for NYRB II over his seven appearances and will be an important component going into this match. Watch out for Jørgensen to lead the NYRB II attack on Saturday night.
UNDEFEATED AT MUSC HEALTH STADIUM
NYRB II has posted a 3-0-2 record across all competitions, when playing at MUSC Health Stadium. Last year, NYRB II defeated the Battery 1-0, with the help of a Tom Barlow curler to advance to the 2018 Eastern Conference semifinals.
LONG TIME, NO SEE
NYRB II head coach John Wolyniec and Charleston Battery head coach Mike Anhaeuser have been around their perspective clubs for a long time. Wolyniec played for the New York Red Bulls from 2006 to 2010 and was an assistant coach from 2013 to 2015. He then took the ranks of head coach for NYRB II in their inaugural season in 2015. He has amassed a 76-42-32 record overall and helped the club win the 2016 USL Cup. Anhaeuser played for the Charleston Battery from 1994 to 1998, he made 115 total appearances and scored two goals. He was an assistant coach from 1999 to 2004, and he has been the head coach since 2005. These two have helped their clubs achieve great things, and it is always an exciting match, when these two meet.
Following Saturday’s match, New York Red Bulls II will return home on July 5 to face Ottawa Fury FC, with kick-off set for 7 p.m. ET. For tickets, visit www.newyorkredbulls.com/2/tickets or call 1.877.727.7585.
