New York Red Bulls II will make the second stop of their three-match road trip, when they travel to Children’s Mercy Park on August 24 to take on Swope Park Rangers. Here are three things to look out for:
BACK ON TRACK
NYRB II were riding high on seven-match unbeaten streak, which stemmed back to June 29. Unfortunately, they were defeated by Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC at MSU Soccer Park on August 14. Despite the frustration of the loss, NYRB II bounced back and defeated Nashville SC, 2-1, in their last match. The victory puts them in sole lead of the Eastern Conference. Watch them ride this momentum into Children Mercy’s Park on Saturday night.
DUNCAN STRIKES
Kyle Duncan recorded a goal and an assist against Nashville SC on Wednesday night. He delivered a cross to the foot of Jared Stroud, who knocked in the equalizing goal in the match. In the 71st minute, Duncan hit a rocket into the back of the net to give NYRB II the lead. His offensive game has been great the last couple games and he will definitely not be slowing down going into the match against Swope Park.
ZAJEC RETURNS
At half-time on Wednesday night, Kyle Zajec substituted in for captain Vincent Bezecourt. This was the first time, Zajec has been on the pitch since NYRB II’s match against Atlanta United 2 on July 13, which NYRB II set a club record for most goals in a single game. He returned in the Nashville SC and will be interesting to see if he will get more time on Saturday.
New York Red Bulls II will finish off their road trip on September 4, with a trip to Indy Eleven. They will return home on September 13 for their annual Open House match against Charlotte Independence, with kick-off set for 7 p.m. ET.
