Jared Stroud was given the captain’s armband for the first time, this past Friday in a 3-2 victory over Memphis 901 FC.
Head Coach John Wolyniec praised his captain for his performance against Memphis 901 FC. “He is a good player and we value him highly.”
“We gave him the captain’s armband and he scores a goal. Again, overall positive for him. We challenged him a little bit this week to put himself in some better spots”, Wolyniec said.
Stroud has enjoyed a great start to the 2019 USL Championship. He tallied an assist in NYRB II’s victory against Swope Park Rangers and added a goal against Memphis 901 FC this past Friday night. He has created six chances and has a 68.7 percent passing accuracy in three matches.
The Chester, N.J. native was drafted by the New York Red Bulls with the No.83 overall selection in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. During the 2018 campaign, he totaled seven goals and 11 assists in his first professional season.
After his first three appearances this season, it does seem that big things are coming Stroud’s way. “He is going to be a leader on this team, and he is going to make big plays for us,” Wolyniec said
