Thanks to your votes, Thierry Henry was named the winner of the 2013 ESPY for ‘Best MLS Player’ at the ESPN Award’s ceremonies Wednesday night in Los Angeles.
The Red Bulls forward and captain beat out the likes of San Jose’s Chris Wondolowski and Sporting Kansas City’s Graham Zusi to take home the honor, his first since joining MLS and the first Red Bull to claim the title.
Since joining the Red Bulls midway through the 2010 season, Henry has tallied 38 goals and added 23 assists over 80 appearances, 77 of which were starts. The International Superstar has claimed World Cup, UEFA Champions League and European Championship titles over the course of his career, and finished as a runner up in 2012 MLS MVP voting. Henry has received three All-Star nods and has been named MLS Player of the Week five times, including a span of three-straight weeks in which he received the honor, making him the first player in league history to do so.
So far this season, Henry has scored seven goals and added four assists, including this highlight-reel finish against the Montreal Impact on May 8.
Congrats to Thierry for taking home the honors, and thanks for casting your votes!
