HARRISON, N.J. (January 18, 2016) – United States Under-17 National Team Head Coach John Hackworth has invited Red Bulls academy player Chris Gloster to the 2016 Spring Semester of the U.S. U-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla. This 32-player roster is the first named by Hackworth as new U-17 head coach.
Gloster, a native of Montclair, N.J., has prior national team experience with the U.S. U-15s and is a familiar face to Hackworth. In November 2015, the defender was named to a list of 60 players for a week long training at IMG Academy which was led by former U.S. U-15 head coach Hackworth. Gloster currently plays for the Red Bulls U-16 academy team and started all 11 matches in the 2015 fall portion of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy season.
From Jan. 14-24, the U-17s head to Turkey to compete in the 2016 Aegean Cup, their first international tournament of the new year. The U-17 Residency roster serves to introduce all new players to the program. This group of U-17 players will also compete in the CONCACAF U-17 Championship in hopes of earning a spot in the 2017 FIFA World Cup in India.

About the U-17 Residency Program:
The U.S. players live on campus at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., and train in the morning under the guidance of the U.S. U-17 MNT coaching staff. In the afternoon, the players attend classes at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School. While in the full-time residency program, the U.S. not only trains daily, but also has access to the IMG Academy facilities. The team regularly uses IMG’s state-of-the-art strength-training facilities, as well as some of the nation’s best sports psychologists who work at the Academy. The IMG Academies include top-of-the-line soccer equipment, Bermuda grass fields, renovated student housing and dining facilities.
