On the road against his old club, with his team desperate for three points against the Supporters’ Shield winners, Frankie Amaya put in a performance that put him in the Starting XI for the MLS Team of the Matchday.
With a chorus of boos from the Cincinnati fans pointed in his direction, Amaya put the Red Bulls on top with his fifth goal of the season, moving him into a tie with Dante Vanzeir for second most goals on the team across all competitions.
Before this season, Amaya only had three total goals in 97 professional appearances. This season, he has been a key cog in all phases for the Red Bulls.
Amaya also made many crucial defensive plays that kept FC Cincinnati’s potent attack at bay, securing the 2-1 win.
This is the third time that Amaya has been featured on the MLS Team of the Matchday. He is one of eight New York players to have been featured in an MLS Team of the Matchday so far this season.
