How the New York Red Bulls Can Clinch a Spot in the Postseason on Wednesday

The New York Red Bulls are on the brink of securing their 13th-straight season making the playoffs.

On Wednesday, with RBNY idle and preparing for Saturday afternoon's New York Derby at Yankee Stadium, there is one path into the postseason for the club:

New York will clinch a berth in the Audi 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs if:

Orlando City SC lose vs. Atlanta United

-via MLS

If New York makes it into the Audi 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs, it would be the 13th-consecutive berth into the postseason, tied for the longest streak, both active and all-time, in league history.

The Red Bulls 23 playoff appearances would be the most in league history, having missed just four times (1997, 1999, 2002, & 2009). If RBNY qualify for the postseason for the 13th-consecutive year, it would be the longest stretch among major sports teams in the New York Metro-area in 2022.
