Kaku got back on the scoresheet on Sunday night, scoring the game-winner as the New York Red Bulls secured the Atlantic Cup for another year with a 1-0 win over D.C. United.
Kaku scored his fourth goal of the season, all of which are game-winners.
"It felt good," Kaku said through a translator. "We put forth a great effort, and it makes us happy to get us the three points at home. Very happy."
Kaku hadn't scored since early May before Sunday night.
"I haven’t scored in a while," Kaku said. "Fortunately I was able to do it today in a Derby against D.C. United."
But Kaku was positive about the goal and the outlook, as he continues to maintain his reign atop the MLS assist chart.
"Sometimes, it doesn’t work out," Kaku said. "I try to assist Brad and Danny [Royer], but to be honest, I’m happy it worked out today and I’m hoping to do it again."
Kaku will get another opportunity to both shoot and dish on Wednesday as the Houston Dynamo roll into Red Bull Arena for a mid-week matchup.
