The New York Red Bulls close out their regular season series with Toronto FC this Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
Here are the Keys to the Game, presented by Honda:
Finish Regular Season on a High Note
In its last home appearance against New England Revolution, New York walked away with a 1-0 win, thanks to an Aaron Long goal in the 89th minute.
The Red Bulls will return back to Red Bull Arena and host Toronto, who’s coming off a 2-1 win over Inter Miami CF.
This season, the Red Bulls have won 13 points out of 27 possible points at RBA. A win, plus a Revolution defeat will allow New York to skip the play-in game.
Rub Off Recent Result
Not all was negative after the New York Derby defeat as Brian White tallied a goal and has done so in three of the last four matches.
Meanwhile, midfielder Cristian CĂ¡sseres Jr. has three assists in the last six MLS matches.
The Red Bulls saw a five-game unbeaten streak end at Yankee Stadium and will seek to begin a new one as they head into the playoffs.
Toronto Still Seeking Supporters’ Shield
If Toronto wins its match against the Red Bulls and Philadelphia loses/draws its game against the Revs, TFC will secure the Shield.
Another combination that could give the Shield to TFC is a tie against New York and a Philly loss.
Toronto’s road record this season is 5-2-2.
