Momentum Builder
Tuesday’s win against Atlantic Cup rival D.C. United, the first match of Head Coach Troy Lesesne’s tenure, was a much needed reset point for New York’s season.
Now, the Red Bulls take on New York City. A win against them, which would be New York’s second of the season, would do a lot for building momentum and starting a rise up the Eastern Conference table.
Out of the Ballpark
The season outside of the friendly confines has not been kind to New York City FC so far in 2023.
NYCFC has just two points from its first six road games this season. They have only managed two victories in their last 14 regular season away matches dating back to July 2022.
The Red Bulls are 10-2-2 at home in the New York Derby, but lost the league matchup last season. Can New York keep NYC’s road woes going?
Stop Santi
Midfielder Santiago RodrÃguez leads NYCFC with four goals and 20 total attacking assists in 11 appearances.
In five matches against the Red Bulls, he has a goal and two assists. The likes of Taty Castellanos are now abroad, but RodrÃguez still brings a danger to the NYC attack that New York will have to look out for.
