The New York Red Bulls (9-4-9, 36 pts.) head to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park for the first time since 2018 to face off against the Colorado Rapids (11-8-4, 37 pts.) on Saturday, July 13.

Here are the Keys to the Game, presented by Toyota:

Old Friends

New York will head West and re-visit two locals that have made the move to Colorado. Rapids Head Coach Chris Armas and midfielder Omir Fernandez are both Colorado residents and are helping the squad to a fourth place spot in the standings so far.

Colorado has won five of their last six MLS matches, which includes four-straight wins. New York are currently on a five-match unbeaten streak, which includes back-to-back results on the road.

At Elevation

Dick’s Sporting Goods Park is one of the tougher places to play in MLS. New York has earned just one win in five previous regular season meetings with the Rapids.

At 5,200 feet (1,600 m) above sea level, DSGP has the highest elevation of any stadium regularly used by MLS teams. Not to mention temperatures that could reach triple digits on matchday. How will the Red Bulls respond?

Clean Carlos

Carlos Coronel has turned in back-to-back clean sheets in back-to-back MLS matches, separated by a stint with Copa America.

Coronel posted his 34th career shutout for New York in their match against Philadelphia on July 6, which ranks second in franchise history. Coronel has posted back-to-back shutouts in MLS play. The Paraguayan international is only three wins shy of passing Tony Meola for second place in franchise history in wins.

Kickoff is set for 9:30 p.m. ET with coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English via the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
