New York will see three players return from international duty for this weekend’s match, with Emil Forsberg, John Tolkin and Noah Eile back with the squad.
Forsberg made his MLS debut against Nashville SC in the season opener. The Swedish international has scored six MLS goals this season, which ranks tied for seventh in MLS for goals scored by a midfielder. Forsberg has five goal contributions in his last six MLS matches.
Meara Mania
Ryan Meara has recorded 19 career shutouts across all competitions for New York and is one shy of passing Jon Conway for fourth place in franchise history in shutouts across all competitions.
Meara is set to start his third match of the season, allowing just one goal across his previous two starts.
Defense Dominates
Across the last three MLS matches between the two sides, only one goals has been scored. Tolkin’s game-winning penalty conversion in the final match of 2023 was the only goal scored across the last 270 minutes of play.
New York has allowed 23 goals this season, while Nashville has allowed 22. The two sides will be separated by who can find the back of the net on Saturday night.
