After scoring the equalizing goal on the road against Philadelphia, which helped the Red Bulls secure an important away point, Luquinhas has been named to the Starting XI of the MLS Team of the Week.
He becomes the sixth different New York player to be named to the team so far this season.
Down to ten men and down a goal to Philadelphia, New York leveled the score at 1-1 when Cameron Harper sent a ball into the box from the right side of the field that found Luquinhas, who shot it first time through Andre Blake and into the roof of the net.
This is the first time in his short MLS career that Luquinhas has received this honor, and this is the fourth-consecutive week that the Red Bulls have had a starter in the Team of the Week.
Luquinhas has had an instant impact for New York since his first appearance.
In his eight starts, he has a goal or an assist in six of them. He also has a scoring attempt in nine of his eleven appearances in his Red Bulls career.
With the help of Luquinhas, New York has the fifth best expected goals total at 1.58 goals per game.
They also have the fourth best expected goals total away from home at 1.45 goals per game.
