MATCH PREVIEW, pres. by Toyota: Red Bulls Head to Citi Field to Face NYCFC in First-Ever Postseason New York Derby

The New York Red Bulls head to Citi Field to face off against New York City FC in the Eastern Conference Semifinals of the Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs on Saturday, November 23. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. ET with coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English via the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.

Coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV begins at 5:30 p.m. ET. Steve Cangialosi will have the primary play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Danny Higginbotham on the English side, while Bruno Vain will have the play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Andres Agulla on the Spanish side. New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 5 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Toyota, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley.

The Red Bulls have reached the Eastern Conference Semifinals for the first time since 2018. New York defeated the defending MLS Cup Champions, Columbus Crew in Round One after winning 1-0 at Lower.com Field on October 29 and then they defeated the Crew again after a thrilling 5-4 penalty kick shootout.

This will be the 30th meeting across all competitions between the Red Bulls and NYCFC, with the Red Bulls holding the advantage with a 15-10-4 mark. This will be the first time ever that the two clubs have met in the postseason. In competitions outside of the MLS regular season, the Red Bulls have posted a 4-0-0 mark in those matches. This season, NYCFC have defeated the Red Bulls twice. The Red Bulls are 2-2-1 in their last five matches against NYCFC.

Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel recorded 10 saves in the first two matches of the Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs, including eight saves in Game 1 of Round One agains the Columbus Crew, which was tied for the second most saves in a playoff match in franchise history. Coronel has recorded six shutouts in 11 career matches across all competitions against New York City FC. The Paraguayan international ranks tied for fifth in saves during the Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs.
