The New York Red Bulls and Charlotte FC played to a 1-1 draw in North Carolina on Saturday.

New York got a goal from Elias Manoel midway through the first half to even the score. Noah Eile intercepted the ball and drove forward, making a long, leading pass to Dante Vanzier, who took it to the touchline and cut it back. Manoel received the ball, settled and scored.

"To me, he was the best player on the field, to be honest," Head Coach Sandro Schwarz said of Eile.

Charlotte scored early after a penalty was called and converted.

Carlos Coronel made three saves on the night.

Manoel has scored seven goals and added one assist in six career appearances against Charlotte FC.

Vanzeir has posted nine assists this season, which ranks tied for sixth among active MLS forwards this season. Vanzeir moves into a tie for fifth place in franchise history for most MLS assists in a single season with nine.

Sean Nealis made his 148th career appearance for New York across all competitions, which moves him past Steve Jolley for sole possession of fifth place in franchise history for most appearances by a defender.

New York will return home for a two-match homestand, beginning with a match against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, August 31 at Red Bull Arena for the club’s annual Hip-Hop Night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish and New York Red Bulls Radio in English via the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
