The New York Red Bulls and FC Cincinnati played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday evening at TQL Stadium.
Cincy took the lead in the 20th minute, but RBNY answered back after John Tolkin drew a penalty just nine minutes later.
Lewis Morgan stepped up and converted the penalty to draw the game even.
Morgan’s goal was his ninth in MLS play this season and 11th across all competitions. He ranks second among MLS midfielders for goals scored this season. The midfielder has scored or assisted on a goal in six of New York’s last eight matches across all competitions.
With the road point, New York and the Philadelphia Union are tied atop the Eastern Conference.
New York remained unbeaten against FC Cincinnati on the road, holding a 2-0-1 record and 4-2-2 overall against the club.
The Red Bulls have scored 16 goals on the road this season, which is tied for second in MLS. New York has conceded only 11 goals on the road this season, ranking seventh in MLS.
Cincinnati was forced to 10 men following a second yellow card in the 58th minute. FCC were later issued another red card after a headbutt to Aaron Long, moments before the final whistle.
Head Coach Gerhard Struber was issued a yellow card following the final whistle.
Andrés Reyes made his return from injury and made his first appearance for the Red Bulls since November 7, 2021, against Nashville SC.
