The New York Red Bulls, after a historic unbeaten run on the road to start the 2022 season, now have a road losing streak to deal with, falling 2-0 to Charlotte FC on Saturday at Bank of America Stadium.
Without Aaron Long and Cristian Cásseres Jr., New York was hoping to get the restart of the season started off on the right foot, but goals from Ben Bender and Derrick Jones dealt the Red Bulls their second-straight loss on the road.
In the 45+4 minute, Bender's shot from outside the box deflected and got past Carlos Coronel to give Charlotte FC a lead going into halftime.
New York couldn't get much going in the second half, and only totaled one shot on goal in the 90 minutes.
Jones' tapped in the second Charlotte goal in the 90+1' to seal the final result.
The Red Bulls will be back in action on Saturday, June 18 against Toronto FC at Red Bull Arena.
